A FUNDRAISER has been launched for the funeral of a well-known homeless man.

Terry Ballard, 42, known as Taz, used to sit in Scarrots Lane, Newport, and was liked by many in the town.

He died suddenly in September and his family are struggling to find the funds to pay for his funeral.

Sister Yanna Ballard launched a Go Fund Me page to raise the money needed for funeral expenses.

She said: "Our big brother Taz (Terry) died suddenly and we're not financially able to get the money for a funeral and we were wondering if people can help.

"We have young large families and we have tried all different solutions and this is our last resort.

"We wouldn't ask if we didn't have to.

"Whatever we don't use for the funeral will be donated to a homeless charity on the Isle of Wight."

Floral tributes were left for Taz by the people who knew him.

He died suddenly in a nearby house he was staying at.
