THE Isle of Wight Floating bridge is out of service for the second day running.

Yesterday the bridge ran aground in East Cowes, leaving cars and passengers stranded on both sides of the Medina.

The Isle of Wight Council confirmed the bridge has been taken out of service but could not confirm when it would become operational again.

UPDATED 4pm

An engineer from DMR Engineering has been inspecting the floating bridge this afternoon.

Alongside bridge staff, a man inspected the ramps before driving away 20 minutes later.

It is still unclear when the bridge will be brought back into service, but the Jenny boat will be running tonight until 11pm.
