A ROBBER believed to be armed with a knife last night (Saturday) threatened staff at the Co-op, Ryde.
Isle of Wight Police have appealed for information following the incident, which happened at the West Street store at around 8.50pm.
A police spokeswoman said a man entered the store and threatened staff, before stealing a quantity of cash from the till and fleeing the scene.
No weapon was seen, but the man had his hands in his pockets and staff believed he was armed with a knife.
No-one was injured.
A 32-year-old St Helens man was arrested later that evening on suspicion of robbery, and remains in custody at Newport Police Station.
