FILMMAKER Murray Lerner, whose documentaries helped cement the Isle of Wight Festival's place in music legend, has died aged 90.
Lerner's iconic footage of the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival features performances from some of the biggest names in music, including Bob Dylan, Miles Davies and Jimi Hendrix.
Lerner used the footage to create a series of respected documentaries including Message to Love: The Isle of Wight Festival, Blue Wild Angel: Jimi Hendrix at the Isle of Wight and Leonard Cohen: Live At The Isle of Wight 1970.
According to Rolling Stone, the 90-year-old New Yorker, had been recently working on a new film about Joni Mitchell's Isle of Wight Festival set in which she was heckled by the crowd and broke down.
