THE funeral of Stephanie Slater — the kidnap victim of killer Michael Sams — has taken place on the Isle of Wight today (Thursday).
After surviving a horrific ordeal at the hands of Sams, Stephanie, who changed her name to Phoenix Rhiannon, moved to the Isle of Wight with friend Stacey Kettner.
Following her death earlier at the end of August, people across the country paid tribute to her for her work to help other victims of crime.
Mourners travelled to the funeral, held at the Isle of Wight Crematorium in a Volkswagen Campervan.
Stephanie and Stacey, used to love driving around the Island in their 1966 VW Camper and the coffin was carried in a second, silver VW camper.
Stephanie died shortly after she was diagnosed with cancer, aged 50.
The County Press was given permission to attend today's funeral.
