THE Isle of Wight has the highest level of insolvencies among young adults.
The report from the Insolvency Service revealed the Island was a hotspot for financial ruin, with the seaside towns of Scarborough and Torbay following closely behind.
Daniel and Laura, a 28-year-old couple from the Isle of Wight, told the BBC they had joint debts of £30,000.
As a result, Laura suffered from depression and anxiety, and at times felt suicidal.
With a two-year-old son to care for, Daniel has declared himself bankrupt while Laura has applied for a Debt Relief Order.
The report stated coastal communities were often the worst affected due to a lot of work being seasonal and low paid.
