UPDATED FRIDAY 9AM
FIRE crews have been called to Ryde to investigate a chemical smell.

Crews rushed to a building on St Thomas Street following reports of the strange smell.
An Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue service spokesperson said crews remained at the scene.
Update: Crews were at the scene for just under three hours but failed to find any chemical leaks, a fire and rescue spokeswoman said.
Firefighters flushed the drains system and checked nearby properties for any problems.
Crews said the smell could have been due to issues with surface water drainage after the recent spells of heavy rain.
People inside the building were told to evacuate and call the fire service if the smell returned.
