5G MOBILE data could be tested on the Isle of Wight.
If the council's bid to be part of the government's Full Fibre programme is successful, Islanders could see their mobile data speeds ramped up.
5G offers download speeds of up to ten gigabits per second, meaning a full HD film could be downloaded in a matter of seconds.
The news comes two months after WightFibre announced plans to roll out ultrafast full-fibre broadband across the Island.
