I have just paid £100 plus taxi fares for my 93-year-old mother, who lives in the Midlands, to have wax removed from her ears.

Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) effectively dictate what can and cannot be done by GPs and hospitals, and even pre-pandemic had decided that hearing loss due to wax was not a priority.

The nurses have all been redeployed to do Covid jabs.

A friend also registered at the same practice, with newly diagnosed asthma, had her follow up appointment cancelled on the same morning because the nurses had been sent to Westridge.

My husband and I are newly retired GPs and volunteered to give Covid jabs, unpaid, on several occasions.

In times past we did 1,000 or more flu jabs in a day. Did anyone get back to us?
