I live at the junction of Castle Road and Yarborough Road in Wroxall, a superb viewing situation to observe all the dog walkers, hikers, cyclists etc. enjoying the excellent leisure facilities we have on the Island.

What is very apparent is the absolute explosion of numbers of cyclists now riding our tracks and roads as they explore the countryside.

This morning alone (Thursday) I have counted approximately 70 riders, mums, dads, whole families including teenagers, babies, using all manner of bicycles, including tandems, electric assisted solos, some towing baby carriages, even a couple of seniors who must have been in their late seventies at the very least.

What an opportunity this is for the IW Council to seriously consider opening up and improving even more tracks and routes around the Island to make the IW a Mecca for cycling if it isn't at that level already.
