Britain's water policy urgently needs updating to adapt to a changing climate, according to environment minister Ian Pearson.
The national strategy was last updated five years ago.
Mr Pearson said: "We are moving to a new dry Britain where we need to be smarter and more flexible about our water use."
The minister added climate change needs to be at the heart of the UK's new water strategy, which will published later this year.
