NOTICE OF CHANGES TO COUNCIL TAX DISCOUNTS FOR CLASS C AND D DWELLINGS ACCORDING TO THE
PROVISIONS OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT FINANCE ACT 1992
In accordance with the provisions of Sections 11Aand 11B of the Local Government Finance Act 1992 ('The Act') and The Council Tax Prescribed Classes of Dwellings, England, Regulations 2003 ('Regulations'), Bournemouth
Borough Council determined at a Council
Meeting on 17 January 2017 that the following
changes in respect of Council Tax would be
made with effect from 1 April 2017:-Class C dwellings (i.e. those which are
unoccupied and substantially unfurnished)
will no longer receive a discount. These properties formerly received a 100% discount
for a period of up to one month from the last occupation day providing they had been substantially unfurnished throughout that period.
Class D dwellings (i.e. those which are unoccupied
and substantially unfurnished and are undergoing
major repair works to render them habitable,
or undergoing structural alteration, or had undergone major repair works to render them
habitable and less than 6 months have elapsed
since the date on which the alteration was
substantially completed) will no longer receive a discount. These properties formerly received a 50% discount for up to twelve months.
