The Isle of Wight Council’s Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders


Notice is hereby given that the Isle of Wight Council in not less than seven days from the appearance of this Notice, under Section 14 (1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, proposes to make the following Orders: -

The Isle of Wight Council (Cupressus Avenue, Newchurch, Isle of Wight) (Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic) Order No 1 2022
Island Roads on behalf of The Isle of Wight Council give notice that from 0700 hours on Monday 1 August 2022 until 1830 hours on Friday 5 August 2022, or when the works has been completed, no person shall cause any vehicle to proceed along Cupressus Avenue, for its entire length. There is no alternative route. The closure is required for safety during utility works. 

The Isle of Wight Council (The Square, Freshwater, Isle of Wight) (Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic) Order No 3 2022
Island Roads on behalf of The Isle of Wight Council give notice that from 0700 hours on Wednesday 3 August 2022 until 1830 hours on Friday 12 August 2022, or when the works has been completed, no person shall cause any vehicle to proceed along The Square, for its entire length. There is no alternative route. The closure is required for safety during utility works.

Island Roads on behalf of The Isle of Wight Council give notice that from 0700 hours on Friday 5 August 2022 until 1700 hours on Wednesday 14 September 2022, or when the works has been completed, no person shall cause any vehicle to proceed along Yarborough Road, for its entire length. There is no alternative route. The closure is required for safety during utility works. 

The Isle of Wight Council (Zig Zag Road, Ventnor, Isle of Wight) (Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic) Order No 2 2022
Island Roads on behalf of The Isle of Wight Council give notice that between 0900 and 1700 hours on Thursday 4 August 2022, or when the works has been completed, no person shall cause any vehicle to proceed along Zig Zag Road, between its junctions with St Albans Gardens and Bellevue Road. The alternative route will be signposted locally. The closure is required for safety during utility works.

The alternative route will be signposted locally. The closure is required for safety during carriageway repairs.

Island Roads on behalf of The Isle of Wight Council give notice that between 0930 hours and 1530 hours for one shift between Monday 01 August 2022 and Wednesday 03 August 2022, or when the works has been completed, no person shall cause any vehicle to proceed along The Fairway between its junctions with Golf Links Road and Station Approach. The alternative route will be signposted locally. The closure is required for safety during carriageway repairs.

The Isle of Wight Council (Whitepit Lane, Newport, Isle of Wight) (Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic) Order No 1 2022
Island Roads on behalf of The Isle of Wight Council give notice that between 0800 hours and 1600 hours for one shift on Tuesday 02 August 2022, or when the works has been completed, no person shall cause any vehicle to proceed along Whitepit Lane between its junctions with St Johns Road and Elm Grove. The alternative route will be signposted locally. The closure is required for safety during arboriculture works.

The Isle of Wight Council (Sandown Road, Shanklin, Isle of Wight) (Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic) Order No 2 2022
Island Roads on behalf of The Isle of Wight Council give notice that between 1930 hours and 2300 hours for one shift between Tuesday 02 August 2022 and Thursday 04 August 2022, or when the works has been completed, no person shall cause any vehicle to proceed along Sandown Road between its junctions with Winchester House – Access Road and Littlestairs Road. The alternative route will be signposted locally. The closure is required for safety during carriageway repairs.

The Isle of Wight Council (Gatcombe Village Road, Gatcombe, Isle of Wight) (Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic) Order No 5 2022

The Isle of Wight Council (Great Preston Road, Ryde, Isle of Wight) (Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic) Order No 4 2022
Island Roads on behalf of The Isle of Wight Council give notice that between 1930 hours and 2300 hours for one shift between Tuesday 02 August 2022 and Thursday 04 August 2022, or when the works has been completed, no person shall cause any vehicle to proceed along Great Preston Road between its junctions with Smallbrook Lane and Brading Road. The alternative route will be signposted locally. The closure is required for safety during carriageway repairs.

The Isle of Wight Council (Lowtherville Road, Ventnor, Isle of Wight) (Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic) Order No 3 2022
Island Roads on behalf of The Isle of Wight Council give notice that between 0800 hours and 1600 hours for one shift between Wednesday 03 August 2022 and Friday 05 August 2022, or when the works has been completed, no person shall cause any vehicle to proceed along Lowtherville Road for its entire length. The alternative route will be signposted locally. The closure is required for safety during carriageway repairs.

The Isle of Wight Council (Carters Road, Ryde, Isle of Wight) (Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic) Order No 2 2022
Island Roads on behalf of The Isle of Wight Council give notice that between 0800 hours and 1600 hours for one shift between Wednesday 03 August 2022 and Friday 05 August 2022, or when the works has been completed, no person shall cause any vehicle to proceed along Carters Road for its entire length. The alternative route will be signposted locally. The closure is required for safety during vegetation works.


Island Roads on behalf of the Isle of Wight Council give notice that between Friday 29 July 2022 and Friday 09 September 2022 the following roads will be closed for days, nights, or both day and night for a period of approximately one to three days, or when the works have been completed, to enable carriageway maintenance works to be undertaken. No vehicle or person may use or cause any animal to use the following roads; and that no vehicle is permitted to wait on the following roads or within 50 metres on any adjoining side road where indicated by traffic signs. These works may include carriageway and footway reconstruction and resurfacing works.  In some cases, it may be necessary to close these sections of roads on more than one occasion within this timeframe. Exact dates, durations and access information will be communicated to affected businesses and residents via letter and on street advanced warning signs before the scheme commences. Adverse weather will have an impact on this programme:

Island Roads on behalf of the Isle of Wight Council give notice that between Friday 29 July 2022 and Saturday 29 October 2022 the following roads will be closed for days, nights, or both day and night for a period of approximately one to 15 days, or when the works have been completed, to enable carriageway maintenance works to be undertaken. The Isle of Wight Council (The Parade, Cowes, Isle of Wight) (Temporary Loading Bay) Order No 1 2022
Island Roads on behalf of The Isle of Wight Council give notice that from 0600 hours on Friday 29 July 2022 until 1000 hours on Sunday 07 August 2022, no person shall cause any vehicle to load or unload within the marked loading bay outside of Osborne Court for more than 15 minutes with no return within one hour. The restriction is required in connection with Cowes Week Festival.

The Isle of Wight Council (The Parade, Cowes, Isle of Wight) (Temporary Disabled Drivers Parking Bay) Order No 1 2022
Island Roads on behalf of The Isle of Wight Council give notice that from 0600 hours on Friday 29 July 2022 until 1000 hours on Sunday 07 August 2022, no person shall cause any vehicle to park within the designated disabled parking bays outside of Osborne Court unless displaying a blue badge for more than one hour with no return within two hours. Island Roads on behalf of the Isle of Wight Council give notice that on Saturday 30 July 2022, between 1500 hours and 2130 hours, or when the event has finished, whichever is the sooner, no person shall cause any non-event related vehicle to proceed along a) Culver Parade for its entire length; b) Sandown Esplanade between Esplanade Road and Avenue Road Slipway.

Island Roads on behalf of the Isle of Wight Council give notice that on Saturday 30 July 2022, between 1000 hours and 1300 hours, or when the event has finished, whichever is the sooner, no person shall cause any non-event related vehicle to proceed along 1) Esplanade, for its entire length; 2) Avenue Slipway for its entire length; 3) Culver Parade for its entire length. The closure is required for safety during Sandown’s Children’s Carnival. The alternative route will be signposted locally.

Island Roads on behalf of the Isle of Wight Council give notice that on Tuesday 02 August 2022, between 1130 and 1430 hours, or when the event has finished, whichever is the sooner,
A) no person shall cause any non-event related vehicle to proceed along, 1) Palmerston Road between its junctions with High Street and Cross Street; 2) Cross Street for its entire length; 3) High Street between its junctions with Cross Street and Regent Street; 4) Regent Street for its entire length.

Island Roads on behalf of the Isle of Wight Council give notice that on Wednesday 03 August 2022, between 1700 and 2300 hours, or when the event has finished, whichever is the sooner,
A) no person shall cause any non-event related vehicle to proceed along, 1) Popham Road for its entire length; 2) Priory Road between its junctions with Popham Road and Church Road; 3) Church Road between its junctions with Priory Road and High Street; 4) High Street for its entire length; 5) Regent Street for its entire length; 6) Atherley Road for its entire length; 7) Queens Road for its entire length; 8) Chine Avenue for its entire length.

Island Roads on behalf of The Isle of Wight Council give notice that from 0700 hours on Tuesday 26 July 2022 until 1830 hours on Tuesday 30 August 2022, or when the works has been completed, no person shall cause any vehicle to proceed along Colwell Lane, Between its junctions with Silcombe Lane and Colwell Road. The one-way restriction will be revoked along Colwell Lane, between its junctions with Silcombe Lane and Colwell Road. The alternative route will be signposted locally. The closure and revocation are required for safety during utility works and to allow access to premises and businesses.

Island Roads on behalf of The Isle of Wight Council give notice that from 0700 hours on Monday 25 July 2022 until 1830 hours on Friday 5 August 2022, or when the works has been completed, no person shall cause any vehicle to proceed along Forest Dell, for its entire length. There is no alternative route. The closure is required for safety during utility works.
