Cowes Sports has announced its fourth and fifth summer signings, with both players moving from their cross-Island rivals Newport.

This evening (Thursday, May 25), The Yachtsmen have confirmed the club have signed former Newport right back Liam Triggs (28).

Triggs was a member of the Portsmouth squad, alongside Cowes-born Dan Butler – now of Peterborough in League One – and Ryde-born Jack Maloney – now of Wessex League champions FC Horndean – under manager Guy Whittingham while in League Two during the 2013/14 season.

He swiftly exited Portsmouth to spend a month on loan at AFC Totton before signing for Newport at the end of the season, where he has remained until tonight’s announcement.
