Newport will kick off their play-off journey tonight (Tuesday) as the Islanders seek to join Cowes in the Premier Division.

Port will welcome Petersfield to Smallbrook Stadium in the first play-off semi-finals.

The visitors finished their season in fifth, meanwhile, the Island side fell just short of lifting the title, placing second.

Petersfield took six points off Port this season, winning 3-0 at home and 2-1 on the Island.

Posting on Facebook, Newport said the car park is expected to be busy due to other events taking place at Smallbrook, so advise spectators to allow enough time to arrive.

“We all know what this week means to our club, so let’s get a massive crowd in and really get behind the lads.”

Should Newport succeed, they will face the winners of New Milton and Hamworthy Recreation on Saturday (May 29) at 3pm – and as the highest-placed side, the game would be played at Smallbrook.

Tomorrow, the rescheduled Gold Cup semi-final clash between Cowes Sports and West Wight will get underway at 7.30pm at East Cowes Vics’ Beatrice Avenue.
