POLICE have reopened several roads which had been closed following a major fire in a picturesque Isle of Wight village.
Motorists were advised to avoid Brighstone this morning and into this afternoon (Tuesday), while firefighters dealt with the blaze and the investigation that followed in Gaggerhill Lane.
Police set up road blocks to the junctions with the B3399 main road through Brighstone, Hunny Hill, Chilton Lane and Hoxall Lane.
Firefighters were called to the fire in Gaggerhill Lane at 2am, working through the night and this morning to keep it under control.

As a result, with a large contingent of emergency services at the scene, traffic flow through Brighstone has been difficult.
The main road through the village — the B3399 — has been closed at the junction of Hunny Hill and Chilton Lane, a one-car track.
The road closure along the main road runs through to the Hoxall Lane junction.
