Police are investigating a second burglary in Cowes on the Isle of Wight this morning (Monday), and a question mark hangs over whether the two might be connected.

At around 12.20am, police were called to the scene on Cowes High Street.

They were responding to a report of a burglary at Cowes Combined Services and Social Club.

The suspect(s) gained access by forcing entry through a back door, a spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed.

A till insert was stolen but did not contain any cash.

Matthew Westwood for the club said it will be closed today on account of the incident and apologised for any inconvenience caused.

Earlier today, a burglary was also reported at an address on Bath Road.

Police say a number of tools and copper fittings were stolen.

The County Press understands many of the tools were Makita brand.
