The main road onto Ventnor Esplanade has been closed this evening (Thursday, May 25), for the second time in a week, due to another Isle of Wight sinkhole.

LATEST (MAY 26): Update on main Ventnor Esplanade road closure after discovery of sinkhole

Shore Hill, also known as Ventnor Cascades, was closed last Monday (May 15) to allow for Southern Water utility repairs, initially expected to last two weeks.

But businesses on The Esplanade were rejoicing when works finished ahead of schedule, with the road reopened last Friday (May 19).

Engineers are back on site after a pothole has opened on the surface near the top of the Cascades, exposing a void hidden beneath.

This closure comes just before the start of the Bank Holiday Weekend and half-term week.
