POLICE and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, Donna Jones, is set to meet Islanders tomorrow evening (Friday).

The public event presents an opportunity for residents and members of the public to discuss policing and crime across the Island, and is being held at The Castle, Ryde, at 6pm.

Just recently, the PCC announced the possibility of re-opening Ryde Police Station and said it was part of ongoing considerations.

Cllr Karen Lucioni, Cabinet member for community safety, said she would also like the West Wight area to have a police station open.

You can reserve your place at the Isle of Wight event through EventBrite, or by calling Cllr Lucioni on 07506 930109.

The room capacity is 150 so you should book early to secure a spot.

Donna Jones, the current PCC, was elected in May 2021, and is due to serve for four years in the role.

It was under the previous PCC, Michael Lane, that Ryde Police Station was closed.

“This is your chance to talk directly to the PCC and I would encourage anyone with interest and concerns to attend on the evening and participate,” said Cllr Lucioni.

“There are no restrictions on topics and issues that can be discussed."
