HAMPSHIRE and Isle of Wight Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Service are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a van on the Isle of Wight this evening (Tuesday, December 20).

Two vans have been damaged in the blaze, which happened on York Avenue in East Cowes.

One of the vans, registered to Island-based company Islandwide Carpets, has been completely destroyed at the front, and a second van has damage to its rear.

This is the second time since last Saturday (December 10), that a van has been alight on the road, the first being a Hobgoblin van.

The incident is also near where three vehicles and a hedge were damaged following a suspected arson in July.

John Keyworth, owner of Islandwide, told the County Press: "It's come at the worst time of the year, our busiest time of the year.

"We've now got to get ourselves organised and try and find a replacement van so we don't let any of our customers down."

The County Press has contacted police and fire for a statement.
