A MEDICAL emergency on one ferry and a problem with the boarding ramp at the same time caused delays on Wightlink's Fishbourne to Portsmouth route yesterday (Monday).

Passengers on both St Clare and Victoria of Wight faced hold-ups of up to two-and-a-half hours while waiting to cross The Solent.

A Wightlink spokesperson explained: "An issue with the boarding ramp at Fishbourne yesterday evening delayed the arrival of the 6pm sailing of Wightlink's ferry St Clare. Engineers resolved the problem.

"Meanwhile, Victoria of Wight returned to Portsmouth, because of an unrelated medical emergency on board, and loaded more vehicles."

They apologised for the delay to customers.
