MY MOTHER has lived on the Isle of Wight for more than 40 years and I have used the car ferry probably four or five times each year during that time.
She was hospitalised over the summer and I made the trip four times in a couple of months at a combined cost of over £600.
I don’t qualify for a resident’s discount and, because she has no car, nor does my mother.
I recently travelled to France for less than half the last return fare I paid to go to the Isle of Wight.
- Chaotic Isle of Wight ferry no good for hospital appointments
- Wightlink makes it impossible to commute easily and you might pay twice to park
There should be a mechanism whereby relatives of Islanders, especially the elderly, are able to travel for less.
