FIREFIGHTERS were called to extinguish two vehicles ablaze in the Newport area during the early hours of this morning (Saturday).
Multiple calls were put into the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service from around 11.43pm of a van and car well alight in Broadwood Lane, Gunville.
Newport Green Watch sent two appliances to the scene.
Firefighters using breathing apparatus and hose reels extinguished the fire quickly and the operation was wrapped up by 12.11am.
More than 50 per cent damage was caused to both vehicles. There were no injuries and the fire did not affect nearby properties, a fire service spokeswoman said.
