A FACEBOOK group has been created with the intention of developing connections between different generations of people during isolation.

Tracey Caul set up the Keeping Young and Old Connected Facebook group.

The aim is for Isle of Wight children to post their drawings, poems or other creative endeavours to the page to be shared with the elderly residents in care homes.

Tracey said: "One night last week I couldn't sleep and found myself scrolling through Facebook posts.

"I saw one about a local care home in lockdown and wondered what could be done to help.

"With children off school and possibly bored I felt it would be possible to create a connection, and spent the next day calling quite a few care homes who were very happy with the idea and said they would be happy to incorporate it to keep the residents' spirits up.

"In a short space of time we are closing in on 200 members, and that number consists of parents, children and care home workers."

Tracey is hoping the group will last beyond the current isolation period, offering a support network for people in care homes who don't have regular visitors.
