FRESHWATER Independent Lifeboat raised almost £3,000 with a record-breaking final open day of the season.
The bay was packed with visitors who enjoyed the sunshine and the lifeboat shop took more than £1,500 — mainly in ice cream sales, which sold out.
There were stalls selling books, pottery, rope and woodwork, and games including a teddy tombola and hook a duck.
The grand raffle draw included a £250 Brittany Ferries voucher, and visitors enjoyed a selection of homemade cakes baked by volunteer fundraisers.
The crew set up a barbecue and — due to public demand — entertained the crowds with their formation swimming display.
There was live music from West Wind and the Brass Monkeys, and an open-air service led by Churches Together in West Wight.
